Meet the JCGC Field Crew
The JCGC field crew is responsible for caring for the cemetery grounds and structures, including trees and plants; repairing monuments and markers; and maintaining the vehicles and equipment. In addition, the crew locates gravesites, opens and closes graves, and performs all the other related set up work for funeral services at the cemeteries. The crew also installs foundations for markers and monuments. All lawn mowing is outsourced. Prior to 2013, all work at the Covedale cemeteries as well as most of the Price Hill cemeteries had been outsourced, but the JCGC crew now handles all the cemeteries.
The foreman of JCGC’s crew is Ronnie King, who was featured in our last newsletter. Ronnie’s staff has recently grown from three to four to accommodate the additional work load in Covedale and Price Hill. Our senior crew member is James Rankins who joined us in 2006 with seventeen years in the cemetery business, most recently at Vine Street Cemetery. Chris Mukes has been with us since 2002 and, in his spare time, enjoys umpiring baseball games throughout the city. Troy Wesley joined JCGC in 2010 and is also in the Naval Reserves. Our newest addition is Jerry Porter, but even Jerry has a little JCGC experience as he has been a temporary worker for us for the last couple of summers.
David Hoguet, Executive Director, states, “We are really proud of our crew. Ronnie King is a great foreman and he has assembled a terrific group of guys over the years. I get a lot of positive feedback about them, particularly on how they handle funerals at the cemetery. It is a pleasure to work with them.”
